Colorectal Cancer Alliance
45+ Reasons
Goals
Mendoza partnered with the Alliance to develop a campaign focused on promoting colon cancer awareness among the Black Community in Philadelphia. The goal was to get more than 5,000 Black Philadelphians ages 45-75 screened to reduce their significantly higher mortality rates from colon cancer. Another key goal was to highlight the new minimum colorectal cancer screening age, which was recently moved from 50 to 45 years old. The first step was for people to take a quick online test to get a personalized screening recommendation.
Tactics
- Developed a flexible creative concept called 45+ Reasons to highlight the many medical and personal reasons we all can find to get screened.
- Produced man-in-street videos to make the campaign more localized, believable and relatable.
- Hosted multiple outreach events to inform and invite people to take the quiz with our tablet stations.
- Created the Spirit Challenge, an initiative involving key faith-based organizations to get as many screenings as possible among their members to win a $3,000 donation.
