Colorectal Cancer Alliance

You can’t address a problem when you’re too afraid to discuss it. And an issue like colorectal cancer is too serious to remain a taboo. That’s why Mendoza was excited to partner with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (CCA) to increase the conversation within Philadelphia’s Black Community.

The best way to beat cancer is to catch it early.

The goal was to get 5,000+ middle-aged Black Philadelphians screened to reduce their significantly higher mortality rates from colon cancer. The new minimum colorectal cancer screening age recently dropped from 50 to 45 years old, and our creative concept was wrapped around that insight. We called it “45+ Reasons” to highlight the age change and the many medical and personal motives behind cancer screening.

The campaign consisted of driving folks an online test for screening recommendations, producing local man-on-the-street videos to ensure the campaign is and relatable, hosting multiple outreach events throughout the community, and the Spirit Challenge: collaborating with key faith-based organizations to get as many screenings as possible among their members to win a $3,000 donation.
